-50 School's for suckers. It's just a scam from parents so they can stay home all day and party up amirite?

You sound like that homeless guy from the movie "Mr. Deeds". "You're right, school is for fools...LOOK AT ME!!!"

we're don't go to school to learn. we go cause it's the law. i got that from a facebook group.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

if its the law (like they can actually stop you from dropping out anyways) then its because they dont want the country to be full of idiots and hobos.

We go to school so we don't go out into the world saying, "How the heck does that work? How much do these three apples cost together? How do you spell "simultaneous"? How do you "sign" your name? Who was George Washington? Why are leaves green?" We go to school so we can actually know what the heck we're doing. It's not a scam, and most parents don't party. And, LOLiareLUCYY, you're right. It is the law. But, just because it is the law doesn't mean it's JUST the law. It is the law because we don't want stupid people going out into the world. Chances are, if it weren't for school, we would all be living in the dark and such. We wouldn't have cars, lights, clubs, amirite.net, cameras, video games, beer, skateboards, and whatever else is in the world!

I recall learning many of the examples that you listed from my parents. I mean, I don't think that I'm ever going to need to know what happened in Chapter Eight of Tom Sawyer or if 8x-4/7>7+8x is true and how to graph it. School is pretty useless after 3rd grade. School should be an oppurtunity offered to everyone but forcing kids to learn things that they will never understand and might even make their lives more miserable is cruel. Some kids my age don't know what they want to do when they grow up because all they know is school. I agree that some people like Thomas Edison will grow up to be geniuses but trying to form everyone into a genius is wrong.

Actually, no. In my Math book it TELLS US when we are going to use this in life. We will always need english, no matter what. We learn Social Studies so we don't make the same mistakes. And how are we ever going to advance in this world if we don't lear science? HOW THE HELL IS TRYING TO TURN EVERYONE INTO A GENIUS WRONG? Explain that to me. And most kids at my school know what they want to be. Authors, car designers, video game testers, veterinarians, artists, and oh so much more.

(Lazynez):Telling everybody to be a genius is wrong because not everyone will be a genius. Some kids will grow up to be professional athletes, actors or musicians but many quit extracurricular activities because it conflicts with school. Kids have been studying History for YEARS and we DO still make the same mistakes. I'm sure many people who didn't go to school would be successful if high-paying jobs didn't require it.

Highpayting jobs require it because it involves helping the world using what we learned in school.

Ugh... umm... give me a day to think about that one.

Aha! Got it. People don't need to learn everything they need to know from school. More advanced education (middle school and up) should be optional. Not everyone is going to need to learn how cloning humans works and we could be filling their minds with more useful information to that particular person.

Maybe HS and up. Most people have to retake HS classes in college, so it's sort of pointless. But midle school can help you with more *financial* stuff and explain stuff to your children...
