+253 The point of Amirite isn't to post things and see how many upvotes they get. It's to post things that YOU personally believe are true and see how many people have the same opinion. That's why it says it on the homepage. We should all post stuff that are our own personal opinions, and not regret a post just because it gets more downvotes than upvotes. amirite?

It sucks though when someone downvotes and doesn't explain why. I love to know why people disagree with a post. It gives you a better view of the other end of the spectrum.

Except when you make a post and it gets a ton of downvotes and then you think "why did I make this? I don't even agree with it. What was I thinking?"

Yeah. Just thought about that

Oh, the irony

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Please, explain what you mean by that

You're talking about people posting more controversial opinions/less obvious ones and 99% of people agreed with this

However, it's really discouraging when people start targeting you in the comments section for making a post they found crappy :/ I will admit I don't like a lot of my posts (my opinions change often) but this site is about sharing opinions and you shouldn't have to worry about being belittled by people who disagree with you.

Honestly, all my favorite posts are just witty in some way, not ones that make me go, "I TOTALLY AGREE!" But yeah, I have a bunch of older posts that I totally hate even though they got a bunch of upvotes because they're boring and unoriginal.
