+249 Asking someone if they are a democrat or a republican is like asking them if they are a dog or a cat person. There's more animals than just the two, plus there's aspects of both that they may like and dislike. Amirite?

i'm a dog person.

Overall, I am too. But I really like certain aspects of cats, such as you don't have to walk them. Yeah, you still have to clean the litter box though!

I'm more of a cat person because they're independent and don't fully rely on you. I like that quality in people, too.

I really like how we turned this into an animal conversation instead of a political conversation. Kudos!

I like both equally.

That was the goal!

the political party in which you've registered doesn't necessarily define your political ideology. you just need to choose the party that is closer to supporting your views overall. for example I'm a libertarian so I registered with the republican party because the democratic party is known for advocating more government control which is against my ideology. of course there are more parties than just the republican or democratic parties that you can register with, or you can even register as an independent. most people just register in one of the standard two parties because they have more power and makes it more likely for your voice to possibly be heard.

I agree. It's a lot of gray, not all black and white. The reason I thought of this is because my boyfriend asked me why I registered as a democrat instead of independent. I told him because society makes me feel like I only have the two options.
