You can't properly debate with someone who doesn't use facts. So you can't properly debate with a religious person about the existence of God, amirite?
I get what you're trying to say but "it's a fact that he isn't there until proven" is my whole point. You can't debate about God's existence if the whole argument is that I can't 100% prove that he's not. I can't know much 100%, which is why I base my beliefs off of what has been proven, not what can't be proven. I don't know if that makes sense, I meant this more as a jokey post. I am not trying to offend you or other religious people, I just like the types of comments like yours that makes me think about things. I'm just curious you don't have to answer if it offends you, but if you realize that God may not exist, what makes you believe that He does?
Yes Sobriquet, you are right in how it could be worded the other way or worded to include both. But I see amirite as an opinion, and my opinion is how I worded it. Someone who is religious would have worded it the opposite way. Atheists don't have to prove God doesn't exist, people don't have to prove the non-existence of every possibility in the world. If you believe in God, then there must be a reason for the belief other than someone saying that there's no proof He doesn't exist? That is what I could never wrap my head around with religion. I'm not trying to be rude I just wish someone could explain what drives their faith without evidence. Or do you see evidence in some way? Again, not attacking you or religion, genuinely curious!
Except atheists use facts and religion uses faith. I think it would be great to be religious simply to wholeheartedly believe that there is a purpose and someone watching over you/ guiding you. But I can't base what I know off of hope and faith, I base what I know off of what makes sense. If I told you there is a teacup orbiting Pluto, and no one could ever find it, it's a FACT that the teacup is not there until I prove it is.

That's the whole thing. You don't need evidence to have faith.
