The Olympics do not unify the world. They hammer home nationalism, amirite?
by Anonymous11 years ago
The Olympics do so unify the world. You see athletes from different countries sometimes playing on the same team, an audience with a variety of different generations and nations all watching together across the planet, and sportsmanship and friendship between athletes who often don't even speak the same language. I can forgive people for being proud of their country for all that.

It does both. What's wrong with nationalism?

Being proud of your country isn't a bad thing. Especially when people are going through rough times, it's great to see someone from your country achieving success with your country's flag on your shoulder.
