-52 From the luminous stars in the night time sky, to the serene sunset, to insignificant things like a colorful flower in the garden, there's no denying that nature is absolutely beautiful. There has got to be someone who created all of this, like a divine creator or a God, amirite?

God doesn't exist.

Argumentum ad Ignorantiam.

I think what ActionMan is saying is not that a lack of proof against God's existence confirms that God does exist, but rather that anon gives no reason or explanation.

You sound really dumb when you say because some things are beautiful, there MUST be a creator. Well, some things are fatally destructive and wrong as well. There are mishaps and mistakes in nature. Your logic (I use this term loosely) goes both ways. This is not to say I'm denying the possibility of a god, you can believe anything you want, but this just isn't an argument.

Completely groundless. We look things and determine they're "designed" based on the enviornment around them; looking at the earth's nature and the universe as a whole doesn't lead us to any conclusion because outside of the universe, there's nothing there known to be compared to. It is at this point these groundless assertions arise, like the claim there "HAS to be a god", because of the human brain's natural tendency to try and make sense of the things it perceives as impossible or out of order.

if you post your religious views on a website based on logical opinion, you're gonna have a bad time

All I can say is it seems as though we'll never know until we find out individually when we die. I do hope there is more to life than chemical reactions and biological functioning, however. Sweet post, anyway. If noting else, it reminds us to take in beauty and appreciate what's around us.

I agreed with the first part of the sentence, not the last. It is a very old and flawed argument and I'm in no mood to go into that right now.

Yes, things in nature are beautiful, and yes, I believe there is a God, but not because of nature's etheriality.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

There is beauty in all things. Sometimes those things do make us feel a connection to the greater universe; all of us, no matter how logical or cynical we may be, have felt that. Please leave specific religious views out of those experiences- they were not meant to be analyzed, only loved.

If there is a divine being powerful enough to create all the beauty we see, shouldn't he also be powerful enough to eliminate all suffering and squalor? Either he is not all powerful, or he makes a habit of watching us suffer, or he doesn't exist.

From the starving kids, to the disease, famine, natural disasters etc. I think its fair to say if there is a god, it doesn't give a flying fuck!
