I find it hilarious that she was angry that a fourteen year old girl was prettier than her.

Why is this downvoted? It's true, Google it nig-nogs. The story was made in around the 1700s and back then, fairest meant fairest in the face and women would even use white powder to make their skin pale because it was seen as attractive because it meant you had wealth and didn't do labor in the sun for you to be able to get a tan.

Me too - also an astute and excellent historical tid-bit. It's true in China right now! Women whiten themselves for the same reason. And men will grow one of their finger nails very long as a statement that they are not in the laboring classes. So much for communism creating a classless society
