+287 It's interesting how little kids are taught at a young age "there's nothing wrong with being different", and then once they get a little bit older and they do something out of the ordinary (like a guy wearing makeup) everyone flips shit. It's like they taught us that being different is OK just so that we could later find out that it isn't. amirite?

Personally, I love when guys wear makeup, but I get the point. Everyone else flips out. Really, what we're telling them is be different in the way that everyone else wishes they could be, not the kind of different that we find strange.

I think some guys can pull off eyeliner better than I can. hello I agree though. Even something like dying your hair can get you a lot of criticism.

Parents will let their kids do anything except be themselves.

It's downright bull that when a girl is masculine, she's a celebrated tomboy, but when a guy is feminine, he's a faggot and is looked down upon.

I couldn't agree more. Most of my interests aren't very masculine, and my dad doesn't like it and people constantly call me gay. But my sister can scream at the TV louder than any man when she watches football and nobody cares

It isn't unlikely that a girl gets labelled as a dyke for doing such things or having short hair. People's can be so mean :'(

Misogyny and homophobia at it's finest. Sorry to hear that, toast =(

This demonstrates a mentally shallow connection between personhood and physical appearance.
