+205 Fashion is one of today's biggest ripoffs, companies make a shirt for under 10 dollars, slap on a logo and sell it for 30, it's pretty messed up when you think about it, amirite?

Not really...at least with the stats you gave. For example: fast food restaurants spend a penny for a cup, a nickel for the soda to go in it, and charge you $1.50 for it. Movie theaters and sporting events charge 4 times as much. And it's not messed up...it's the market: people sell consumers things they can't get on their own for the highest price they're willing to pay

Hollister.. But I will admit I've recently started to like their clothes. I only buy on sale though. I got two sweaters that were originally around 40 each and I got em for 16 each

I like buying quality pieces from Abercrombie like jackets and coats because they last really long. And that's also the only place that sells jackets with sleeves long enough for my arms. Their prices aren't bad once stuff goes on sale.

No. What's stupid is the people who buy it. If it didn't sell, it wouldn't be sold.

It's even worse when they make a shirt for $30 worth of labor, sell it for $10, and make up the difference by underpaying their employees and the people in China who make the shirts.

It's called turning a profit. If they charged 10 dollars, they would literally make no money, if that 10 was the cost of labor, shipping, advertising, and materials. They will have accomplished nothing. If they didn't charge 30, they wouldn't make enough money for the business to thrive. Company success is not measured in money earned, but profit. If you made a product for 20 bucks and sold it for 25, 7 shirts a day for for weeks, you would spend 980 dollars, and earned 1225 dollars, your profit would be 245 dollars, which if you spent all of your money on the production of the shirts, would be less then you started out with.

What I think is messed up is how much the people working hard to produce those materials that go into the shirt get paid.
