You must be new here

I know this site is pretty liberal, and I did jump in a little too deep on my 1st few post, but I would like to know what paul Ryan has to do with this

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I was not in the country when it happened, so my knowledge about what he actually said is a little sketchy, but he said something to the effect of if a woman gets pregnant during rape and wants an abortion, she should be denied one because if it were a legitimate rape, she would not have gotten pregnant. I'm not a feminist (I like the term egalitarian) and I don't even identify as liberal, but what he said was so misogynist and biologically incorrect that I see many womens' problems with the republican party if he remains a candidate for vice president. I think he's going to get replaced though.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Oh, this is a complete misunderstanding!!! That was Todd akin's statement. Paul Ryan said rape was rape, and refuses to really address the problem with rape. http://www.latimes.com/news/nat...,1850098.story Where did you here Paul Ryan did it? Was it a commercial, because I know those SUPERPACS on both sides tell a lot of lies on commercials

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Hear, not here, sorry.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

My friend on Facebook posted a video of Paul Ryan talking about rape and one of the comments was talking about the legitimate rape thing. Like I said, I was out of the country... The funny thing is, is that I came on here to say that it was actually Todd Akin who said because my mom just told me that it was him... sorry

by Anonymous 11 years ago

yes, we know this guy was speaking out of his butthole, but this does not represent all republican's views.

Anyone who wants a full history on the war on women: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_on_Women Basic republican views on women's rights: http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumb...6gdpo1_500.jpg Equal pay for women: http://www.washingtontimes.com/...bill/?page=all http://www.cnn.com/2012/04/24/o...pay/index.html Concerning abortion: http://thenewcivilrightsmovemen...12/04/13/37993 (And a more personal view): http://open.salon.com//blog/jan_wilberg/2012/08/23/the_wire I would have written everything out instead of just linking, but there's way to much to cover. Also, these are just a few basic links, if you want information pertaining to a specific topic, I'd be more than happy to give it to you.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Okay, sorry, but the last 5 of your links did not open for ME, but this may not happen to everyone. I know the general arguments for your side (i'm guessing it is the democrat's side) so I will repute them. I obiously think abortion is really wrong in most cases (these are human beings for goodness sakes!!!) but why should the taxpayer pay for planned parenthood and contraceptives? That's not a war on women, its common sense that in the hole we're in we don't need to pay for yet another "entitlement!!! I can't really address everything in the wikipedia article at the moment, but that one really urked me. can't open up the second link I can't open up your third or fourth link, but I will address it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwogDPh-Sow&list=FLIktsRGPZNCDgCjSF8YDBAw&index=31&feature=plpp_video as you can see, women are not necessarily discrimination as woman's choice on your fourth link, I cannot open it, but depending on the title I can explain that abortion is not a civil rights movement. To make that assumption is completely absurd! I would think fighting for the baby's rights is the "new" civil rights movement. Anyway, I'll leave it there and let the battle begin...

Partial birth abortions are illegal.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yeah but certian politicians I wOn't name now support it

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Politics in general is ridiculous both sides use the "war on this" and "war on that" tactic as if they think the American public is that dumb. Unfortunately, we are. Politicians right now are doing nothing but polarizing people instead of making them come together for the common good.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

not all republicans. most republicans i know are sensible people, just the ones in power

by Anonymous 11 years ago

republican's are people calling for smaller government and constitutional government. Unfortunately lazy conservatives like bush just expand government even more

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I think the Democrats are declaring a war on babies, Catholics, and rich people. I pretty sure most of you will disagree. Pro-choice=abortion=killing babies. Making people provide contraceptives in health plans and making it mandatory to provide abortions=closed down religious affiliated companies. So what? People got rich on their on account of their actions. Why should they have to give away money that they worked for just to let lazy people sit on their ass all day? Taxes are made to proportionally affect everyone. Politics hold many double standards. Just because Republicans are pro-life, it's a war against women. Its "taking away women's rights," but at the same time being pro-choice is taking away the most basic right, the right to live.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Being "pro choice" does not mean that a person is "pro killing babies". I personally am pro-choice, but I think they should choose to keep the baby, typically. Being pro choice means that a woman should have the option to have an abortion if she is raped, the baby threatens the mothers own life, or something like that. Pro choice people don't believe that it should be used on a regular basis as birth control, but that it should be an option that is out there and is readily available. And making abortions illegal won't solve the problem, it will make it worse. People will have to get illegal ones from sketchy doctors, or worse, try to do it themselves, which could seriously injure the mother and baby, if the baby survives.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I see your point, but should we really be paying for it? That's really all I have a problem with. You never explained to us why being prochoice is not pro baby killing. Sympathizing with the mother doesn't change the fact that babies are being killed.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I actually agree that tax dollars should not go to paying for abortions, but I think that they should be affordable. Being pro choice isn't being pro baby killing because you can still want the mother to *choose* to keep the baby.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I honestly meant pro-abortion, but pro-choice allows abortions to occur. I understand that it probably won't solve the problem, but it is still wrong to take away the right to life. What happens when Obama makes all hospitals offer the service to perform abortions? The Catholic and religious hospitals that are against is will shut down, and some cities would be screwed. What do you think about Obama forcing everyone to include contraceptives in their health plans? What about the fact that people who have climbed up the ladder and made money fairly are being chastised for doing so? What about the fact that we are trillions of dollars in debt, and 3 million dollars per year is going to planned parenthood?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

What about the pursuit of happiness? Is that not also a right? If the mother is raped or the baby is seriously damaging to the mother, it violates her OWN rights to be forced to have the baby. I think including contraceptives is actually good, and I truly don't understand why people are against birth control pills or condoms. If the woman never got pregnant, she wouldn't need an abortion! I mean, I know that Catholics believe you shouldn't use any form of birth control, but Obama isn't forcing them to take them, just provide them. Ok, yes, 3 million dollars per year go to planned parenthood. But how much goes to the army? The US spends nearly a trillion dollars per year on the military. Have you ever seen the army have to hold a bakesale to buy tanks? Or bombs? Or anything ever? No. Three million dollars is NOTHING compared to one trillion. People can't complain about all the money going to planned parenthood without also taking into consideration how much is going to the army.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

This will have to be a short response, so I won't be able to address everything at this time, but here I go: The military is a function of government as stated in our constitution. Funding abortion, bailing out banks, creating stimuluses, and controlling interest rates are not. People act like the military is the only thing we can cut back on in the budget, but this is pure nonsense. If the government stopped sticking its nose where it doesn't belong, maybe we wouldn't be in this mess.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Why are you denying the baby his/ her pursuit of happiness

by Anonymous 11 years ago

What about the freedom of religion? It's in our religion that contraceptives are wrong because they stop the fertilization of an egg. Why should they have to provide it?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Both sides have gone full retard.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I can't believe that I'm the first person to say "bluediculous."
