+235 I'm not saying animal abuse isn't wrong, because it is. It just seems unfair that we favor some animals over others. For example, if someone hurts a cat or a dog, people think it's horrific. But if someone kills hundreds of cows or exterminates bugs, no one thinks anything of it. Amirite?

Not that I agree with it but the bugs and cows are being killed, hopefully for our convenience. Animal abuse is generally looked at as beating on animals because you're one sick motherfucker. I think the difference comes from killing and beating. Then again, factory farmed animals suffer a lot through the way they're grown.

Yes, but one is something that is invading your home and the other is for eating and is not wasted.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I think people thought I was talking about dogs and cats being the things that "invade" your home. I meant insects. Apologies for the terrible wording

by Anonymous 11 years ago

... And if you beat a cow to death I sure people would frown upon it as well

by Anonymous 11 years ago

To expand on what Anonymous said, I think the difference comes from the intent behind the injury. We kill cows to get food, and we kill bugs to get rid of unsanitary living conditions. But people usually abuse their pets with no good reason, other than anger or frustration or something along those lines.

What if I beat my dog and then eat it

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I would be the first one to report you.if I found out.

by Anonymous 5 years ago

Going to test me with hypotheticals, are we? Okay, well then it depends. Why did you beat it in the first place? Why did you eat it? Was there anything else to eat? It's all more complicated than that, though. It depends on the exact circumstances surrounding it.

Okay lets say that this is I am Legend because although I have not read the book/seen the movie I'm pretty sure he has a dog. What then?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Well, his dog was about to turn into a zombie, so he did that for his own safety, as well as so his dog could die with some dignity.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

He actually did that?!?!?! h Serious time. Lets say I live in an undeveloped third world country. I've had the basics all my life but nothing more. Now though, I struggle to find food. I can survive on what I have, but I am becoming weaker by the day. Is it still okay to eat my dog?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Of course it's okay. In a third world country. But this isn't. You have food available almost always.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

What I'm saying is Ill live even if I don't and I've had this dog for years. But, I'm still hungry all the time

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It's still okay. Our ancestors ate meat when they were hungry, so why can't you?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Well it's not acceptable to eat my dog here. Same animal.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I only agree with killing animals for food. If you wear an animal or kill a bug because it's near you, prepare to get it from me.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I don't have a problem with bugs until they invade my house and my body. If a bug jumps onto my arm or leg or any body part, it's going to die. Sorry.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Hopefully that's not how the vastly more intelligent aliens that may come to Earth view us, Gymnast.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Don't jump on an aliens arm or invade its home then

by Anonymous 11 years ago

What do you think of someone if they hunt, eat, and then use the animal's skin for clothing, do you still find it bad? Truthfully asking, I'm not trying to sound like a jerk or anything.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Just hump their legs and everything will be fine

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Recital, if it's necessary for survival, then yes. I meant I can't stand if someone wears real leather for the look of it.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yeah, I don't get why PETA doesn't have spiders on their commercials..

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I think because they're trying to gain peoples support, and the best way to do that is with puppies

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Insects don't feel pain. Swatting them isn't cruel. We do it to protect ourselves and our families from whatever bites/diseases/stings they want to give us. Cows are killed for food. They're shot in the head, not beaten. Dogs are loyal companions and friends. They're a part of the family. Abusing them is like abusing your own children. A quick death with a valid reason is not abuse.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I try not to kill bugs.If I find a spider or bug in the house.I put a drinking glass over it and slide a piece of paper under the glass and put it out on the lawn.
