You periodically check your headphones every so often in one "episode"-always, is what I was trying to get across. :)

"Always" meaning in every music-listening session. "Periodically" meaning a few times per session. So during each music-listening session, you check your headphones a few times. What doesn't make sense is the "take your headphones out" part. Earphones come out. Headphones come off.
