the signs are there to reassure the customer, not to actually encourage anyone to wash their hands.

Umm, maybe.. just MAYBE! The reason they ask us to wash our hands is to stop any virus from spreading places.

that's what they want you think. and use antibacterial soaps too ! and now so many children have allergies and antibiotics don't work.

Even if you don't wash your hand and you don't get sick, doesn't mean that somebody who you come in contact with, won't. While I agree that antibacterial soaps might end up being harmful (and as somebody with allergies to certain soaps), people- employees on duty especially- need to consider how their actions affect others. I'm a 'grunt' cashier, lowly as I am, but I would hate for one of my regulars to get sick because I don't wash my hands coming out of the bathroom. I respect my customers enough to do that and I hope they respect me the same (though I've had one mother bring her daughter with full blown chicken pox and scratching her sores before counting and handing me the money at the mother's insistence).
