Most of the books we have to read for English class are actually really interesting, amirite?

Except for //The Namesake//. I hated that book with a passion! Well, ok, I didn't hate it, I just didn't enjoy it. And I thought //Catcher in the Rye// was ok. //Inherit the Wind// is the best though.

The House on Mango Street was the worst "book" I have ever read. I say book in a very light sense. It's only deeming quality was how short is was. If it was interesting, it's about a 1.5 hour read. However, it wasn't, and it took us twelve classes.
This is a **summary** of the second, erm... "chapter" from the book, taken from sparknotes.
Esperanza describes the different types of hair of all the members of her family. Her own hair doesn’t do what she wants it to do, while her sister’s is smooth and oily. Her mother’s hair is beautiful and smells like bread. Esperanza likes to sleep near her mother so she can smell it.

//Nectar in the Sieve// has to be one of the worst books I have ever read, but it was my English teacher's all-time favorite, so we spent a good month on it.

Scarlet letter

The only English books I ever LOVED were Hamlet and Atonement. Plus, The Bell Jar and A Lost Lady were okay. And I loved studying both The Catcher in the Rye and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close because I was already obsessed with those books before we started the units.
But I detested Tracks, The Scarlet Letter, The Great Gatsby, Wide Sargasso Sea, and probably several others that I'm forgetting. So it's a mix, overall.

I don't think I've ever hated a book I've read in English.

I thought I was the only one! I love reading, and English has always been one of my favorite classes.

This Boy's Life didn't seem to have any point to me. I appreciated The Great Gatsby but couldn't get in to it, and the translation of the Odyssey we read was crap. I feel like if we had been given more time I would have liked the Scarlet Letter.
