+82 Atheists: If you had to, you would choose Greek/Roman or Egyptian mythology over any of the Abrahamic religions, amirite?

In what situation would you need to choose?

hmm Um, if the sky opened up and a loud voice came in and addressed all atheists, telling them that a god or gods exists but if they choose any religion, they'll be able to do whatever they want in the afterlife otherwise choosing eternal damnation forever.

I don't know, the Greek/Roman gods were kind of assholes for the most part. Worshiping the Egyptian gods also means worshiping the pharaoh. If the religion did not have to have a god in it, I would choose Buddhism, but if it did, I might go with a liberation theology interpretation of Christianity. This is really hypothetical though.

I was a Buddhist before I became an atheist, but only because my mother forced it on me. It's not as people make it out to be. I mean, it's pretty easygoing and forgiving, but there are deities and you do pray to them. I remember having to apologize for wrongdoings monthly, I guess kind of like Christianity(?). This is how I was taught the religion, but I'm sure there are variations. The people who taught it to me at the temple were, I thought, overly religious and quite unconvincing about it. Just putting my thoughts out there.

The Egyptian Gods for sure.

The Greek Gods are pretty much all egocentric, petty, and overly-competitive with each other. If I was religious I would choose the Abrahamic god as he is seemingly more benevolent.

I wouldn't call the Abrahamic god benevolent. He punished all of humanity for the actions of two people who were tricked, and decided that the best way to stop people from being wicked was to kill almost all of them with a flood.

Well, there's that. Besides the story of Eden, I know very little when it comes to Christian theology. I was raised in a Jewish household and Reform Jews tend to believe that there is no contradiction between Torah and science, and that if science is perceived and proved true, then there was a misinterpretation of the Torah.
