+160 It's crazy how despite the fact that everyone knows how if feels to be made fun of or excluded, people still make fun of and exclude others all the time, even for reasons outside of that person's control, amirite?

Look at it from a psychological perspective. When a child is ostracized from a young age, they make the assumption that those who are different deserve to be ostracized. The child starts to crave positive attention (we always stigmatize a desire for attention, but everyone wants attention from someone). The child starts to make fun of other people who are different, because they sub-consciously understand that to fit in, you must make fun of others to act like YOU are perfect and normal. That's why we mock others, because it makes us seem less terrible.
