You've read a book that's changed your life, amirite?

...No, I've read things that changed my perception of something before, but never anything that had a profound impact on my lifestyle.

The Fault in Our Stars changed my perspective on cancer.

How so?

Well, this is going to sound a bit rambly so be warned. It is just that with everything in the media and all the traditional "cancer stories," we have this notion of what a "cancer story" is. The patient is always brave and hero-like, and the entire story is sad/depressing. However, in that book, it was a bit different. The cancer patients were not perfect heroic human beings. They had flaws. They had their bad days and their weakest hours. Also, the perspective of the narrator was thought provoking. For example, when she talked about how people treat her. Also, a big part of it was that it wasn't an entirely depressing or sad tale. It is not one of those stories where page after page you are bawling our eyes out. It had some comedic bits. In fact, I feel like I laughed more than cried as I was reading the story.
