+54 What if there was only ONE rule in a school? You must respect each other - each other's opinions, property, space. (The rule would be applicable to staff and pupils and anyone visiting). amirite?

This could actually work in a lot of ways... ex: it's rude to be late, so out of consideration for the teacher you'd have to be on time, it's respectful to listen to the teacher and do the work they give you, it's disrespectful to just get up and walk out of class without notifying your teacher you need to leave and waiting for a proper moment (when they're not talking), etc. In short, according to the rules students would have to be on time, do work, not leave the class room without asking the teacher, not steal, and not talk out of turn during class if the only rule was you must be respectful. There would still have to be state laws, like you have to attend school and can't bring weapons on campus and stuff like that, but as a general school rule "be respectful" is a good one that covers a lot of things.

I hate the whole "respect my opinion" thing. Opinions can be wrong. I can think Hitler is the greatest man who ever lived. Wouldn't you say that's incorrect? Plus a nice healthy debate never hurt anyone.
