+53 The phrase "know it like the back of my hand" is actually not that descriptive. I bet you couldnt actually tell someone what the back of your hand looks like. So saying you know something "like the back of your hand" is really saying you don't know it very well at all, amirite?

I tried to see if I could describe the back of my hand so I said "I have ONE freckle and a small cut on my ring finger." but I actually have two freckles on the back of my hand. So you are correct.

You're correct. I was gonna post that. But on the show they were asking people to identify a photo of their hand, not describe it. And the post talks about describing it.

It probably means you know it as if you see it as often as the back of your hand.
