With a typo, you know how to spell the word correctly, just you pressed the wrong keys because you were typing too fast or something. With a spelling mistake, you type it how you mean to, you just don't know how to spell the word correctly.

I really hate it when people make the same mistake over and over and address it as a typo. My spelling isn't perfect either, but I can at least be honest when it's a mistake and learn from it.

Yeah now with the auto-correct, you can even deny the fact you made a typo.
