+197 Routine is a thing that makes us feel safe, knowing that we still have power over our lives. This translates into tradition and culture- when that is taken away, we feel vulnerable. When culture is changed, we feel like we don't have control, which is why a lot of people fear change, Amirite?

I probably fear change as much as christians fear satan

by Anonymous 11 years ago

but they need not fear what they don't invite to themselves, whereas change comes to everybody

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I would really like having a little force field of sorts that makes change avoid me, or at least go slower than snail speed.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

This shows they are willing to listen to user's views. They just need time

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Okay, um, //anon//, we'll give them a chance. But if a //certain person// is reading this, then well, I hope they can give not-so-gushing posts and comments a chance, too. There is a difference between offensive, and just pointing something out in the most polite way someone can.

This is a sic POTD and is actually true

by Anonymous 11 years ago

thank you

by Anonymous 11 years ago

BEST POTD EVER! :D

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I love you.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

In a based-on-what-I-have-to-judge-by-which-isn't-sufficient kind of way

by Anonymous 11 years ago

This also relates to the change in ownership of Amirite

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Record number of votes EVER on a POTD. Seriously, this is huge.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'm seeing this post twice, once as POTD and another time right below it on the homepage. Double post all the way!

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I kind of have the opposite thing. If things are the same too long I get really bored and uncomfortable and have to change things up. That's why I'm constantly changing my hair and I seem to have a new clothing style weekly. Unfortunately school is all routine so I get into trouble by "changing things up" ._.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

but perhaps constant change in itself is a routine. by establishing a routine of a lack thereof, you gain that same control, and all else is the same

by Anonymous 11 years ago

oh. True. Yeah that makes sense. Like the routine of the japanese to change with society.

Sorry if this has been posted before or something but yeah.. Can someone explain to me what's been going on? I've been a member here for a bit over two years. For about a month the website wasn't working at all for me and I forgot about it. I came back today after about four months of being away and everything is quite different! I don't really care about all of the new voting things. However it does seem to me like most of the people I remember are all gone, and none of the posts have very many votes at all. The POTDs only have like 200 votes which is what homepage posts used to have! I can't quite piece what went on but I keep on seeing things in the comments... So yeah. Anyone? What happened?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

1. Change of ownership 2. Many annoying policies that users hated that caused many to leave (some of which were changed back, others made optional) 3. there are not much less users here, and Anthony no longer runs the site

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Oh okay, thanks. I think I probably am not going to be on much anymore anyway, but I wouldn't go as far as to say "leaving forever".For me personally, I think it's not the changes, it's just that the post quality has gone down since the heyday of amirite and the comments aren't as funny.. Here's hoping that amirite will be able to rebound and become awesome again! :)

Cheers! I'm a new user, and a longtime goer from before that

by Anonymous 11 years ago

What used to be like a normal amount of points in the weekly hall of fame? I wanna see if i can bring that up to near-par. Would you happen to remember?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

huh... I think like 400-600

by Anonymous 11 years ago

oh god... i have a hell of a ways to go...

by Anonymous 11 years ago

haha yeah! Good luck :)
