People are unable to create something perfect, amirite?
by Anonymous11 years ago
But sometimes imperfections are really what injects brilliance into a work. I've listened to a lot of indie/alternative music that does not have the best audio quality, and to be honest, that's just part of the appeal.

Perfect is a subjective term.

I think of perfect as something that cannot be improved upon so I guess it could be subjective
by Anonymous11 years ago
Exactly. What you consider an improvement I may consider a flaw.
by Anonymous11 years ago
But isn't perfect where everyone one agrees that there is no flaw?
by Anonymous11 years ago
Not necessarily. What we agree on or what we think is irrelevant to the quality of anything. An object's degree of quality is determined by how well it fulfills its purpose and how much better it could become at doing that. If the world had agreed that the first airplane was flawless and neglected to improve upon it, would that have made it perfect?

I feel Iike something perfect is something that is undisputed. That with perfect it isn't a matter of opinion but rather something that is a fact that there is nothing to be improved upon. I feel that is difficult to gauge because everything we think of is imperfect.

Your first and second sentences contradict each other. First you said that perfect means undisputed, making it a matter of collective opinion. Then you said that perfect isn't a matter of opinion.
by Anonymous11 years ago
No something undisputed is generally fact.(ie. the earth is round)
every opinion can be disputed, even things like Hitler was a bad person or murder is wrong.
That's kind of the point I was trying to make.

I don't know what you're trying to get across anymore.
