I think there are some cases where violence is justified, like in cases of self defense, or when a person is trying to protect their personal property.

That depends on whether you're looking for a moral justification or a legal one. Legally, it's a lot harder to justify violence. Morally, it's a lot easier.

That being said, I think there are many cases in which violence is justified.

Depends on what you are protecting,that's a grey area though. And isn't it right that it's only self defense when it hasn't been taken to another level? Eg. When someone attacks you with just fists, and you respond with punching them til they black out, that's self defense but if you pull out a gun and shoot them, it's not classified as self defense anymore?
