It's weird to imagine that, in a way, plants are able to see, smell, communicate, and have memories. Plants are really much more complicated organisms than we give them credit for.

They are incredible, but they can't see, smell or have memories. Let's be real here.

Actually, they can. Ir's not like the way we express these, but they can.

Actually, they can't. You need specific organs to do those things and plants are plants because they don't have them.

But they still can express these. Like they have to know when the sun is up, and can detect the sun's wavelengths. That's seeing light, in a way, but not in the way that we see light. When a ripe apple gets near an unripe apple, the unripe apple will start to ripen, because the ripe one releases a smell into the air and the unripe one absorbs it. Plants have memory because they can take in information, store the information, then retrieve the information. If you don't believe me, there's a lot of articles that you can find on the internet.

They don't "know" when the sun is up, they absorb sunlight when it's there. As for apples, no they don't smell nearby apples, you can thank a specific hormone in the plant for knowing when to ripen. If you found any article saying that plants can see and smell things, then you are right about one thing, you can sure find a lot of (stupid) articles on the internet.

That's kind of stretching it. The fact of the matter is, they don't possess consciousness. Common man-made technology can perform more complicated tasks, so I wouldn't as soon be fascinated by a plant for the reasons you provide than worship, say, my iPod.
