As evident in the L.A. Riots, someone cannot save his family or his business from a violent and merciless mob with only a pistol. Assult rifles are necessary. It's a scary concept, but it's real.

That happend once and it was 20 years ago. Yes people will have guns but no matter how big the gun is another will always have a bigger one. We then say we need to have bazookas to defend our self then nuclear weapons it becomes absurd. We lived thousands of years without guns why do we suddenly need them to live in the past 500 years?

Are you suggesting that people in gangs are innocent?

@Izzie_23 That happend once and it was 20 years ago. Yes people will have guns but no matter how big the gun is another will...

Our Founding Fathers wanted the Anerican people to be able to protect themselves from a government that disregarded Constitutional Law. That is why we are granted with the ability to own weapons.

so instead of using arms to subdue a mob such as tasers and other nonlethal weapons, you would rather the police use assault rifles and kill countless people to quell it?

Dude, you are scary

@VicZinc Dude, you are scary

Sometimes, reality is terrifying. It's a grim truth, but a truth nevertheless.

With this logic we should also have telsa ray guns and phasers delivered to civilians as soon as they're invented.

What would be wrong with shooting something with a laser rather than a bullet in the same lawful senario?

I just think our founding fathers never imagined the first place the highest tech weapons would go would be civilian homes. There would be crazy duels in Texas. Also because lasers work differently and give criminals new opportunities.

The intent that the Founding Fathers had was to allow the citizens of this nation to keep the government in check and to grant the people of this country the ability to replace their government if it becomes oppressive.
Guns are not being used in the stereotypical duels, contravening to what you claimed will happen. In fact, crime rates are really high in areas where gun control is in its largest effect in the US; Chicago and New York have very high crime rates- the guns being used: already illegal. How could proposing more bans on the ability of law-abiding citizens to access more than an approved amount of bullets, certain guns, and modifications on certain guns prevent this?

Anti-gun arguments remind me of libertarian market arguments because they assume that people with certain powers are willing to use that power to do good (or to not do bad.)
