Any system that produces massive amounts of highly a reactive gas that is extremely corrosive because of its high electronegativity should be abandon, shut-down or dismantled. Agreed? Join the fight to discontinue all such processes, and return Earth to its natural oxygen-free pre-photosynthetic state! Amirite?

Weeeeeeell, sulfur falls into the same category as oxygen on the periodic table, and can form the same bonds due to having the same electronegativity. Hypothetically, life can exist that uses sulfur in place of oxygen. Similarly, hypothetical life-forms can also use silicon instead of carbon and arsenic instead of phosphorous. That last one already happens, actually.
