You listed a lot of great classic cartoons up there, but there are several more modern shows that I really enjoyed as a kid, like The Powerpuff Girls, Fairly OddParents, Lilo and Stitch, and basically anything else on Nick or older Disney Channel. Out of those choices though, Tom and Jerry remains my favorite. It brings back memories of watching it with my grandparents and cousins in Bangladesh. They could understand it very well despite their nonfluency in English because it doesn't rely on speech.
I didn't put more modern cartoons in there on purpose. I love all of the ones you posted but I thought it would be interesting to see how many people respond to the older ones. :)
I voted for looney tunes, but from 1959 to 1964 the best cartoon in terms of writing, wit and wisdom was // Rocky & Bullwinkle //. It didn't last long because mass-American audiences hate anything that is actually intelligent.
Anyone remember Dastardly and Muttley in Their Flying Machines? Muttley's laugh and grumbling were worth it all. Here is a short clip.
I also enjoyed Road Runner, The Jetsons, and Heckle & Jeckle, Mighty Mouse, and Johnny Quest. Of course, these date me, but they were all good.
So do you think we only fall in love with and reflect back on the things from OUR generation? That seems to be the trend or pattern I am seeing in these replies.
Good point. I too "love" many new things from the current generations {i.e. technology, The Magic School Bus, Electro House music}. Reflection is a wonderful process, and by nature, we seem to automatically compare past with and to the present. I guess the goal or focus should be on keeping the best good from each generation and moving forward.
It has to be a close battle between Family Guy, Futurama, South Park and The Simpsons. Both South Park and the Simpsons have such a great longevity. Futurama and Family guy both got canceled, but were brought back by popular demand. Futurama is a really good show because it rewards the higher-intelligent crowd with smart jokes, but turns around and makes a fart joke right after. Family Guy has always been edgy with its material. South Park is in a animated series on its own being the only one of the four that can make an episode within a week or so. This helps the show discuss important topics in the world today with a great sense of humor that America has welcomed in arms open into their homes. Then, there is The Simpsons. This show has been around since 1987. This show's longevity is amazing. What makes this show great is that the family is so amusing to watch. I can't really say what's my favorite, but these are definitely in my top 4.
I do love south park when I just want to zone out, hey just turned it on.. used to make fun of a buddy who told me he watched it, but now I understand the fun but now he is dead. No fair seems everyone younger than me dies off.
I personally am not a fan of those particular shows, but I have never looked at them as you have explained them. I might have to go take a look at them again. Thanks!
The Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park, Futarama, Phiness and Ferb (even though I just found out that it was based on real life) and I'm sure there's a lot more than I love that I just can't think of right now

Avatar is pretty fantastic too.

Yes, I got that by your choices, and is why I dug up some of my "oldies." We old farts need to get "props" once and a while!
Any Spongebob episode before the movie is comedy GOLD

+1 for The Amazing World of Gumball. A lot of CN's recent shows (Adventure Time, Regular Show) are good actually.
Also: Futurama.
Regular Show is the only cartoon I watch these days.
I'm going with my childhood favorite though, Pokemon.

Jonny Quest - loved that. Race Bannon was so what I wanted to be when I grew up.

Maybe for reflection, but I "love" many things from the current generation. Southpark, sushi, and no neckties at work come to mind.

Oh I think we can fall in love with whatever we want from any generation. I guess I was just curious about this specific generation this time.
there there
The Amazing World of Gumball
Sorry for the wrong usage of there, my bad. Never heard of the show, I will have to look it up.
