Usually I pretend the documentary crew is just a friend doing a project for a class. I'm so full of myself.

Also, when I found myself in a place where I felt I didn't fit in, I would imagine doing a documentary on the people I saw... in my best Jacques Cousteau voice. "Here, in a room too lacking in light, these humans get their nutrients from whatever beer happens to be on tap", and so on...
