The past does not matter. It only defines who you are and what you'll become

If something defines somethin else, I think it matters.

@sym_bien I was referring to dwelling in the past.

That's the reason why it does matter. We wouldn't be who we are without the events that shaped our past. If someone doesn't know their past, then how can they know who they are?

I do agree that we shouldn't dwell in the past, but it does matter.

The past does not define who we ARE presently. The past defines who we WERE yesterday. Today and tomorrow define who we are now and who we want to become. We have no control over the past or future, so today is really and truly all that matters.

@sym_bien It is the past that defines who you are today.

Only to a point. You can change TODAY and leave the past behind. The past got you to where you are today, but it does not limit or restrict what you do today or tomorrow. If it did, then all of us would be prisoners of our past and have no hope for betterment or change.
