Should parents, teachers and other personnel be able to carry a concealed weapon in a school?

Recently, legislation was passed in Michigan that gives people the ability to carry a concealed weapon in a school, hospital, church and other open areas (stadiums, shopping malls,etc.). Proponents say the legislation requires those carrying a license to have increased training and that this law would increase public safety. Opponents, say adding the opportunity for an increase in weapons in places that should be the most safe, such as schools, hospitals and churches is a bad idea will lead to something tragic.

No. Just because they are teachers doesn't mean they don't have anything wrong with them. Some teachers fight students and pick on them for no reason. Once, my brother's teacher wasn't pronouncing his name right, and after he corrected him multiple times, the teacher pushed him down the stairs. A lot of teachers are constantly fed up with their students. Who's to say they won't threaten with a gun? Lots of students are fighting their teachers and classmates. What if the students somehow got hold of the gun and shot the teacher or fellow classmates? Plus, what about the younger grades? What if the children find the gun and accidentally shoot themselves? I know most of these scenarios will probably happen rarely, but it's too much of a risk to start allowing guns into schools.

Maybe instead of saying that we shouldn't allow teachers to have guns, we should say that the teacher that pushed your brother should have been fired and taken into court. Maybe we should say that teachers should have a psychological evaluation before they're hired, and before the start of every school year. Maybe there should be classes in school about how to communicate without fighting, or at least that students and teachers who do fight with each other should be seen by the school counselor so they can work on learning how to work with each other better.

If a student gets hold of a gun and shoots the teacher and/or classmates, that's not necessarily the teacher's fault. If the student was that desperate, there were very probably warning signs beforehand, and staff should be warned, and something should be done with the student. Also, as we've seen, students can get guns from outside of school.

If someone from a younger grade gets hold of a gun and accidentally shoots themselves, maybe the teacher should be called into question about why they weren't being careful to ensure that a small child wouldn't be able to get hold of their gun. With great power comes great responsibility.

I don't know about you, but I'd rather that the staff were healthy-minded and licensed to carry guns than worrying that a student might crack one day and harm or kill however many others because nobody's able to stop them.

Weapons man. What the fuck is this shit? Seriously. Obviously an American made this question. Thanks, and have a shooting day. Get it? ;/

Yes. Someone who is considering perpetrating a shooting at a school would think twice if they knew that people in the school would shoot back.

I think everyone should be able to, it's a free country.

Absolutely
