What should be done about the children born (in jail/prison) to incarcerated mothers?
I would like to have views on how it may be possible to better the unfortunately jeopardized future of these children. In most countries the law permits these children to stay with the mother till the age of 5 or 6, after which also, they are pretty much on their own. What are the possibilities for these children during the malleable period (while they are with their mother in jail) when they see confinement as life, and the exposure they have to people being punished, which I'm sure gives them a very different outlook of life, hope and the world, from a regular child. What do you think may be the kind of therapy, education, exposure and opportunities that such children should be introduced to, in order to help them function well in the society when they enter it?
