Do you think alternative development approaches can lead to the reduction of poverty? eg. (community based / rights based approaches)
In the world today we see the new aid paradigm being implemented with its by and large focus on 'poverty reduction'. It employes aid modalities such as Poverty Reduction Strategy papers, Sector wide approaches etc but still poverty is remaining the same or rising in some countries. Is there value to employing a much more qualitative community based approach to development, that works from the bottom up solving local problems with local solutions. The top-down euro-centric methods employed currently don't seem to be getting us anywhere!!!
