Why don't we try to do what Bhutan has done - not only measure economic indicators (GDP) but add a country "happiness" indicator as well?

The concept of gross national happiness was developed to try and define an indicator that measures quality of life or social progress in more holistic and psychological terms than gross domestic product (GDP). Happiness is what we all look for but it is never taken into consideration in measurements about how "advanced" a society is. It would be worth exploring this option, even though I agree that it can be challenging on the practical side.
