Could doctors give up a half day of practice a week pro bono to solve the health care cost deficit?

It seems to me, the way the current health care system is set up everybody looses except perhaps the insurance companies. With the wonderful advances in medicine it is impossible to believe that our cost structure can hold up equally for each American. Instead of a further government takeover, could doctors give up some of their time, at a tax advantage, to cover the less fortunate. Please give your thoughts good or bad....
