I wrote it as DM.
I play guitar so my music theory sucks. To my limited music knowledge, I've only played sevenths in worship songs so they usually sound churchy to me.
Never in my life did I think I would be arguing the merits of 7th chords to someone going by the moniker of JimiHendrix, but anyway...
7th chords rock Jimi! They can sound churchy, but they can also sound folksy, bluesy, and even almost discordant (to me at least). If there was a chord for psychosis, it would be a major 7th. I mean that in a good way.
I always feel like an idiot when I talk to real musicians about music. I cant name half the chords I play. But muddyringlets, is probably right that I have no idea what I'm talking about.
I agree. And learning theory can only make you a better musician.
LOL! Like we do?
They can even be jazzy.
Before looking up the guitar chords to this song I could tell that these guys were playing a lot of 7ths.
You obviously know a lot more about music theory than I. I had to look up "plagal cadences", and I still don't know what they are. :-)
Where are the minors? Am anyone?
No one likes minors. But really the options would've been too long if I included minor chords as well.
Hey, minor chords are fun! Haha, but my personal favorite is the E chord.
I think that's the first chord every guitarist learns. That and Em. But it's my least favourite :/
My first chord was C. But I just like the deep sound of E and, well lots of chords can, but it sounds really bluesy.
C and G were the last basic chords I learned. But yeah, Es awesome. Its my least favorite in the way that Hawkeye was my least favorite Avenger. He's still awesome.
Ah, I get ya.
I specifically like playing chords CM and then GM. They're easy and just sound nice to me.
