+8 People who are worried about unwanted pregnancies should really invest in the morning after pill. It takes at least a little heat off the abortion debate. Amirite?

Most pro-life people I know also oppose the morning after pill. They view it much the same way they view abortion.

by Anonymous 10 years ago

why? the pill is taken //before// the person is even pregnant to reduce the chances of //becoming// pregnant and if the person becomes pregnant even after taking the pill there's no evidence that says that it will harm an unborn baby abortion happens //after// the person is pregnant the m.a.p. is taken //before// it's like apples and oranges

I couldn't tell you, I'm not a pro-life person. I don't think any of their arguments make any sense in the first place, so I'm certainly not the person to explain their reasoning.

I"M PRO LIFE well in general anyways I was hoping to hear why they're against the m.a.p. I thought they would have explained why whether or not it makes sense to you

Err, the morning after pill is about the worst thing you can do to your hormones. Condoms and other contraceptives are far better for you. I had to take the morning after pill twice and it messed me up completely =/. I am fairly sure that even early-stage abortions damage you less. (Also, don't know how it's like in your area, but over here they're really expensive)

by Anonymous 10 years ago

but they're very safe maybe you're one of those people who has an extreme reaction to that pill kinda like other medication http://www.morningafterinfo.org/facts/mythsfacts.php I'd say abortion is more dangerous than the morning after pill and for an abortion you would have wait until you're pregnant which doesn't take the heat off the abortion debate and if you're gonna talk about expenses don't abortions have a hefty cost too? plus the pill is for when you mess up and forget you use contraception condoms and whatnot are useless after the fact

by Anonymous 10 years ago

How much do they cost in your area? When I was researching the morning after pill, I saw that it was around 25 pounds in the UK, and that comes out to around $40. That isn't much when you consider the cost of raising a child.

Do you think it should be taken every time after having sex? I don't believe that the morning after pill is the best solution. Of course it makes sense to take it when necessary (when a condom breaks, etc.) but it seems to have some really unpleasant side effects that would probably be dangerous to have regularly (assuming that you are sexually active, and use it every time you have sex). The morning after pill should be seen as a last resort, not as a regular form of contraception.

by Anonymous 10 years ago

it's not for a regular form of contraception it's for emergencies and the pill is actually very safe you can look at the link I put in the other comments about the myths and facts about it what I'm trying to say with this post is that if an emergency situation occurs instead of waiting to see if you're pregnant and getting an abortion you can take the m.a.p. before you get pregnant

I don't think it's unsafe. I doubt something that widespread would be unsafe. I thought you meant that the morning after pill should be used every time you have sex, instead of as an emergency form of contraception. I just misinterpreted the post. Also, I was basing my original comment on that misunderstanding. Getting the side effects from the morning after pill between long stretches of time is fine, but it's probably dangerous to have those symptoms days apart, especially since the morning after pill isn't designed for regular use.

oh no I was comparing apples and oranges m.a.p. and abortion in case someone forgot to use protection since it's already after the fact I think the m.a.p. would be the best solution
