Too much kindness is a weakness (as in, kindness to the point that others take advantage of you).

That's being a pushover. You can be kind without letting people take advantage of you. The reason I disagreed with the post, is that I think if you're kind to those who aren't kind to you, they may perhaps someday see that being kind is better than being hateful. This is a situation in which kindness is in no way a weakness.
