Iron Maiden has the best songs in my opinion out of these. I really need a band that will have a chorus and not go on endless guitar riffs (I'm looking at you, Metallica and Megadeth)...but that's just how I roll.
My mom listened purely to 80s synth pop, which I still love to this day. But I didn't know anything of metal until I was an adult. Pretty much the only metal I listen to on a daily basis is power and symphonic metal. Choirs and orchestras just work beautifully with metal in my opinion.
I'm seeing Nightwish for the third time next March :) They're pretty much my favorite band.
But yeah, I'm a classically trained musician, and I just need music with a bit more instrumentation for me to really enjoy it since I'm always just loved a full orchestra. lol
Yeah, it's just not my thing. I listened to several songs of theirs yesterday trying to understand the hype. This was one of them. It just was endless guitar riffs...lol
Blind Guardian is one of my favorite bands right now, but they're power metal, power and symphonic metal are my niche. I can't stop listening to this song.

Same here! Heavy metal is not actually my favorite genre, but I think it's the one genre just about all metal fans have some interest in.

Oddly enough, I don't even really care for Symphony X as I find it too bland.
I like more Nightwish, Sonata Arctica, Therion, Within Temptation, Delain, Epica, Sirenia...etc.
But of course, we are all different, and that's the beauty of it.

To each their own :)
Haha, that was the first song I ever heard from Black Sabbath. Always a classic.
Tool was listed as progressive or alternative metal on the site I use. I was only listing heavy metal bands.

I can't choose between Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Black Sabbath, and Judas Priest. I love them equally.
Maiden. 乂º◡º乂

Iced Earth
That's a really good one, reminded me a lot of Iron Maiden...but still did their own thing.
Hell yeah, Blind Guardian is awesome too, but you specified straight up heavy metal.
This is what happens when Iced Earth and Blind Guardian collide...

Nice, they're definitely one of my all time favs. Same here with the power metal, I love melodic too. Like, In Flames, for example.
This one I've been listening to a lot recently.

Oops, didn't realize that was the full albumn, my bad.
Weird Marilyn Yankovich?
