We are, even now, killing ourselves over ancient literature. Who would have thought something so tragically absurd could be possible?

Yea, I have to believe that even if there were no organized religions, humans would find other things that would separate us from them.

more or less but not only that but ancient ways of dealing with people deeply ingrained in our societies and culture where we lived in fear and lived only to survive.

most unaccurate and deceitful thing one will read all day. the vast majority of wars {including the ones we have today} are for POWER, control, LAND, MONEY, and other political reasons, NOT religious. so enough with the liberal lies

Yes, the causes off wars are never that simple. However, I don't believe it's a liberal lie. It certainly seems to me that the combatants in many (if not most) of today's military conflicts have different religious texts, or different interpretations of the same text. I would thus conclude that it is a contributing factor.

Look at the comments on a site like foxnews. There's no lack of contempt for Muslims and the non-religious.

out of all the wars humans have ever entered in since the start of human kind only 15O some where religious in Nature. so yeah trying to claim religion is the cause of most wars is LIBERAL BS!

Well, given that the humans have existed for about 200,000 years (well before recorded history), stating that only about 150 of all wars have been religious in nature is ridiculous. The actual number is obviously unknowable.

Would you agree that ISIS is religious in nature? That the Muslim Brotherhood is religious in nature?

And wasn't it mostly conservatives who chastised President Obama for failing to label the terrorists from the Middle East "Islamic Extremists". Evidently the Right believe terrorism is religious in nature.
