I thought we were supposed to cater to religious freedom? Says at the link that there was no undue hardship caused by the employees refusing to make the delivery, but the company demanded they do so anyway. Perhaps the employeer should clarify the required duties of the job with future employees.

They should have made this known before they were hired.

Then other arrangements could be made.

The court says other arrangements could have been made, without causing a financial burden to the business, the business simply chose to push the issue anyway.

Poor use of tax dollars and Star Transportation went bankrupt so they may not ever get Their $252,000 dollars. Cha ching again.

What laws must I follow when hiring new employees?

A variety of state and federal laws govern what you can and cannot do during all phases of the hiring process, including interviewing, investigating, testing, and selecting new employees.

Generally, you must:
•avoid illegal discrimination
•respect the applicant's privacy rights
•refrain from making promises you can't keep
•follow the legal rules for hiring immigrants, and
•follow the legal rules for hiring young workers.
