+211 The concept of normalcy is man made. Social conditioning brainwashes people into associating the word "normal" with words like "good", "pure", and "moral". "Normal" is placed on a pedestal as somewhat of an achievement in society, while "unusual" is tagged with negative connotations. This is probably because the words "unusual" and "weird" correlate with the word "unknown". amirite?

Of course it's man-made, who else would have made it? And I don't see why it's wrong to have definitions of "normal" and "abnormal", but it really depends on what subject is being talked about. Once a majority of people are doing the same thing, it will become normal. Like say right now being gay is abnormal, but so many people are coming out as being gay, that sooner or later it will be accepted as something normal. But a majority of people will never think that having sex with children is a normal thing to do; so that will always be an abnormal connotation.

i dont know if the person below me is talking to you, but seriously, just stop talking. and by the term "man made" it means it was developed by man, not a part of someone's instincts.

I know what the fuck man made means dumbass, that's why I said who else would have made it, understand the question or should I explain it for you? And if you're the idiot who wrote this post, how about you stop over thinking everything and trying to be all smart when really you're just making yourself sound like a douche. All I did was give my fucking opinion (that explains your whole fucking post and why we have those correlations) so how about you don't you not be a bitch about it?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh no problem, bro.. I'm glad i introduced you to the dictionary. &I'm a girl genius, don't have to be a guy to recognize ignorance when i see it

Protip: always Avoid revealing yourself as a girl. We interweb-dudes are unabashedly sexist to the point that it's painful.
