I figure the President will eventually just become a figurehead anyway...like the Queen!
We need a President to make all the important decisions....our country couldn't survive without a leader. Congress/Senate never can agree on anything. We have the best system in the world, not like others who have dictators.
That's very true. We sure don't want a dictator like Russia or other countries.
The 2 term limit didn't happen until after WW2
The short answer is every organization needs a leader because the buck has to stop somewhere.
My understanding of the American system is it's supposed to be a 3 way split of power between the executive, legislative and judicial branches of the government. The legislative branch determines the parameters of action, the executive branch decides what action to take, and the judicial branch ensures the executive and legislative branches operate within the limits of the Constitution.
So why all the ruckus about Hillary and Donald?
As CIC of the largest military force on the planet the POTUS is hardly a figurehead.
Supposedly only Congress can declare war but since they haven't since WW2 we know that's bullshit.
Seriously, one person is too much for a country as big as the US.
Huh. I meant, Huh?
Do kids know this...they learn it in history?
I dunno... Brian... It's possible...have you put it in different words? Or could you put it in different words...
The reason for a president is supposed to be in case of an emergency decisions and response are quicker. Hence Commander-in-Chief.
That's the "official" explanation as far as i know
I think reality is a little different and has more to do with corporate structure and James Madison's idea of govt.
