+24 How do drug dealers get more jail time than rapists? Most people would rather have Pablo the Plug as a neighbor than Randy the Rapist. Amirite?

I never understood it. The violence of rape and the damage done by molestation can affect a victim for life.

Mandatory minimum sentences and three strike laws. Pretty much sums it up. Course, a lot of people who could be released from jail for such charges wind up sitting there for at least a year (on charges that are eventually dismissed outright) because they can't bail out.

Because raping women doesn't cut into big pharma/government profits. Also, in society in general, women are devalued, so rape is seen as inevitable. It is also almost never, ever blamed ON THE RAPIST. Look at news stories about any rape. Did the woman drink? Did she wear a mini skirt? Did she flirt? How often, if ever is it asked "Why do men rape?" That's the short answer of a very complex societal issue.

because, it is easier to murder the innocent life then to charge the criminal, thats what you get when you have liberals running the country, the criminal gets a slap on the wrist while the innocent gets the death penalty

When I see politicians and even civilians trying to justify rape or call it normal, I don't get surprised to see this happening.

Because the severity of the crime, & it’s consequences are taken into consideration when passing sentence. Generally, a rapist has damaged the life of a single person, whereas a drug dealer has damaged multiple lives, & very possibly caused the death of some. Also, there are often mitigating circumstances in a case of rape: drug dealing is always callous & pre-meditated.
