I found out through friends and the encyclopaedia... parents... never...ha ha ha...
My parents totally avoided it and I found out when I was 12 and my girl friends mother talk to us both.
When I was in grade school, some of the older girls told me all about the birds and bees long before my mother got around to it. I never told her I knew all about it from kids at school.
I did eventually get the gist of how that worked, somehow. My sources did not include my parents, however.
My mom had the talk with me before my 10th birthday. I was appalled and almost couldn't believe it. I said "You must have wanted us really bad!"
I don't remember. Probably school or scouts with my friends. I know for sure that my parents didn't tell me about it.
My mothers talk? "If you get pregnant, im not taking care of it". I was around 11. 6th grade. We had sex ed on 7th grade, and my sister filled in all the blanks. She is 5 years older and knew EVERYTHING
I gathered information piecemeal from such sources as peers, naked Pygmy pictures in National Geographic, and a used medical textbook that my father gave to me when I reached adolescence. I never had "the talk" with my same-sexed parent.
