Yeppers. My folks had one like that, too, as well as an electric adding machine that only added and subtracted.
It's just crazy now.
I think it is more dangerous to drive now than it ever has been.
At work I still do some basic arithmetic manually even now, but mostly I use a spreadsheet.
I still do most math in my head depending on just how tired I am. :)
Yes. I took my SAT's in 1969 and was allowed to bring a slide rule to the test. The next year they allowed hand held calculators. I don't remember how to use a slide rule anymore. Ha!
I remember them. The day I added 5+5 to get an answer was the day I put all helpers away. I only use calculators in lengthy and complicated situations. It's kind of a challenge to me to try to figure it out without help.
Yes. Though I remember calculators being amazing things. Same with microwave ovens. :)
