I ignore them, I don't speed up nor do I slow down. Eventually they either pass me or give up.
I also tap my breaks.
If I get the chance, I just pull over and let them pass me by .... life is too short to sweat the small stuff.
"life is too short to sweat the small stuff"...This is true.
I too hate tailgaters.
I slow down to let them pass...
As do I.
I know what you're saying...That reminds me of a movie quote: "Only a fool blows his horn in a traffic jam"
Oh that is easy...slam on the brakes
Well that is what I was taught anyways...Also that could explain while I am currently suspended too
Oh ya have no idea. My mouth got me in some serious trouble.
When an officer says "Do you know how fast you were going" the correct answer is not "Obviously not fast enough because ya caught up with me"
Oh not one of my proudest moments
Oh I get ungrounded next month provided I meet all the requirements I was supposed to do
Actually not driving has been nice.
LMAO...I've never tried the brake slamming method.
You are most welcome
I'll have to remember that one
The only time I get a tailgater, is in the morning when i'm going to work.
There's about a mile stretch of road, where I make sure I do the speed limit because sometimes there's a cop hiding..
It doesn't bother me..they can go around or stay there and be a dumbass..
"sometimes there's a cop hiding"...It'd be funny to see a cop pull over a tailgater.
That surely wont happen but if i decide to go 1/2 a mile over the speed limit...i'll probably be getting a ticket..
Lol...Sounds like you have the same luck as I do.
Or maybe the same cop
"insist on tailgating anyway"...I've had tailgaters do the same.
Did that in Edmonton, saw smoke come off the guy's tires.
I got pulled over the last time I did it.
Yeah, I try to be more civilized these days.
Yup, a break test will do it
Lol...I've done that.
What you have there is a reorganization of priorities...
@Maze...LMAO...I guess the experience was visual.
Drive at least the speed limit or expect this. If you're driving the speed limit, or a little over, just let them pass.
If you are on a motorcycle, you wiggle the handlebars. Every car driver firmly believes that you don't actually know how to keep that thing upright, and he absolutely does not want to be the first person on he scene when you dump it. So as soon as you wobble, they get the h*ll out from behind you.
If I am in a car, I slow down to what I consider a safe speed, and if that works out to be zero then I am safe and the tailgater can do whatever he thinks he should.
Once I was driving a cab and I slowed down to look for an address. A car drove up behind me and honked, so I pulled into the driveway of an apartment house. The car drove in behind me and honked again. I got over to the side, and d*mned if he didn't get up behind me and honk a third time! At that point it occurred to me that it might be somebody who knows me and wants to tell me something, so I stopped and waited to see what would happen. He finally drove around me. This was in Phoenix where you have to be careful because every now and then a motorist will pull out a pistol and discharge it in the general direction of another car that happens to be in front of him on a public roadway.
The more common problem in Phoenix was when a car would follow in the left lane for some distance, and then I would need to get in the right lane. At that moment, the driver behind would decide that he really needed to be in front of me, and he thought he could change lanes and pass me faster than I could change lanes. When he couldn't do it, because there is a curb over there, he would honk honk honk as if I had done something wrong.
Wow...There's a lot of crazy (I mean really insane) drivers on the roads.
If its daylight i turn on my headlights and the taillights get brighter. Looks like im hitti g my brakes. Or i turn on my left blinker. I hate it when they ride yoyr ass, pass you dangerously and end up at the next stop right in front of you. Inconsiderate drivers really just puss me off.
I pump the breaks. It lets them know to back off.
I also do that.
Yep, I've done that.
That's the safest approach...
As a rule, the quickest way to get rid of a tailgater is to help them pass you.
One time, this car was riding my ass and we came to a straight stretch, so I pulled over. The guy didn't pass. Slowed down, still didn't pass, so I put my indicator on and stopped the car. Then he passed.
I'll have to remember that maneuver.
I cuss at them. Which does nothing :(
This is true.
I typically go 5-10 mph over the speed limit, and I always move to the right if there are multiple lanes if people are going faster. So with that in mind, if someone's tailgating me, I ignore them. Pretend they're not there.
"Pretend they're not there"...I find that hard to do, but I try to ignore them.
I greet them .....very often do you come across tail gaters before any game that wont offer you a taste of what they are cooking or drinking regardless of what team they are with
I like the way you think.
