I didn't know much about her as a person, back when I was a fan of her TV characters and acting ability. I liked her as Laura Petrie, and I loved The Mary Tyler Moore Show. She was excellent in the movie Ordinary People. The part was such a departure for her, and she so very good in it.
I learned in later years that she was a fellow vegetarian, loved animals, and was an 'activist' in her support of animal rescue organizations. She also helped people along the way. I LIKED her, and am saddened to hear of her death.
I loved her shows, and also the movie Ordinary People. She will be missed.
Loved all of her work and her sparkling personality. R.I.P. dear lady.
I remember the Mary Tyler Moore Show - it was very entertaining.

Opened windows for women? Not being obtuse here - I assume you are connecting MTM to feminism?
