And.... saying someone IS sexist or racist, doesn't make it true either. Too often, words and labels have been used to attack others with different points of view, in an attempt to make people cower or retreat from speaking their minds, often when the person is far from being either. I hope those days are over. Labels as attacks have been so overused, they no longer have any meaning.
Oh my god yes! Thank you!
You not agreeing with me about it, doesn't mean it's false...
No doubt. Although I've very rarely lobbed either accusation around myself, I do and have known people who fit either or both descriptions.
It is just not helpful at ALL, when the accusations are thrown around so loosely. It just lessens the actual meaning and impact of the words...
Excuse me....you said those things were so.
So what is the IT to which you refer?
At least you are being honest, Simplesoul.
This is just a good post.
What is your favourite colour?
Just trying to get you oriented as to what a good post is...
BTW you were partly the inspiration of this post.
And hon...like my post sez... What you say doesn't mean it's true.
And, for those of us who aren't sexist or racist, being called one just because I don't fit someone else's idea of who or what I should be gets real old real quick.
Thats not funny, john.....
Not a funny joke.
My father was killed by a white drunk driver at 42.
A man is a man is a man
A woman is a woman is a woman
I am sorry to hear that happened yo your father.
I have many white friends.
I dont care for "people" who do awful things to other "people".
Thank you. I'm so tired of labels. I've heard them all my life😊
There are some situations where humour doesn't work.
I agree. I'm glad you pointed it out... I have been trying to for ages. No one seems to recognize and attributing to sense of humour doesn't work.
Not with me it doesnt. Apparently you either.
Racist remarks, no matter how vague, should be called out for what they are.
Plat doesn't like it when you do.
He apologiged. Thats a good thing....
He should make that apology public.
It took plat and I forever to get along. Now we do, but it's not always easy on a bad day.
We overlook each other's inadequacies...just like any dysfunctional family. :)
I disagree with him on all things poitical.
And i think apologizing here was public. He didnt pm me.
So "Sorry about my humour" was apologizing?
He cant apologige for who he is.
But maybe he will think twice about making offensive remarks.
My father could gave been black for all anyone knows.
As i said.....baby steps.
It's all okay.
You, too hon.
Why don't you mind your own business...this was an interaction between Carla and myself...on my post.
Anyway...my response is more about the fact that you might recognize that sometimes your comments are off-base.
I put up with it since I like you. Dumbass. :)
You got so many friends cause mostly people put up with you...
As far as I'm concerned we're only making nice for Serenity...for the most part.
With Plat it's a process...
John, i will call you out anytime you make an off putting joke about anyone, if i see it.
Just so you know.......
No, i dont wish to do that. I defended you, man. You can dislike whomever you please.
Apologizing helps, John, but a person can't always just keep apologizing.
Man, i just read through all that banter.
As long as we find common ground and respect each other, we will always be okay.
You, me and everyone else.
Isn't the saying "Actions speak louder than words"? Sure that actions can be misunderstood, but if it keeps happening, I'll have to think twice about it.
An example of this: I know a guy that saw a Soup Opera where one of the villains was a domestic abuser. He was trash-talking the character, saying how this behaviour is low-life and such. The way you heard him speaking you would believe he's against this behaviour and never think he's abusive to his family, but he is.
So, I'll take everything into consideration. Words, actions... then I'll make a conclusion of that. Some people are not self-aware enough to even see the flaw in themselves.
Shit, not again...
Soap Opera, not Soup.
USually it means the opposite. Those who have to constantly deny it...ARE
and just because you claim to support minority groups does not mean you aren;s exist or racist. demcrats are the biggest racists ever, they still think minorities are too dumb to do the same things everyone else does. yet they attack conservatives of being the racist ones
