I was just thinking this recently having read similar discussions on other forums.
The problem is i dont believe something is true just because I read a book that claimed itself to be true
I feel like the best thing to do about it is to become insanely sarcastic
Has Al Gore made Global Warming in to a religion now?
PS - There is plenty of evidence of God.
The existence of Creation! (I know, ridiculously simple, right?)
The Universe exists and is real. An entity cannot account for its own being (i.e., it is not sufficient to have caused itself). The "cause" of the Universe is what I call God.
See.. you are assuming there was a "beginning" I know it hurts the brain to think in the terms of the infinite. Though if Everything has a "beginning" or "Creation" then God himself has to have a "Creator".
Oh.. and then that Creator has to have a Creator. And then just multiply by infinity. :)
You assumed - not me.
You wanna pretend that the Universe is eternal; it has always existed and will always exist?
Astronomer Robert Jastrow submitted a journal in 1974, a comprehensive report discussing the possibility that the Universe simply always existed. The scientific evidence states clearly that the Universe had a beginning—something eternal things do not have. Nor do eternal things “run down,” yet clearly the Universe is doing just that, as Dr. Jastrow has noted. As Henry Morris has commented, “The Second Law requires the universe to have had a beginning” . Indeed, it does. The Universe is now known not to be eternal.
Though God is eternal?
Kind of a deal breaker if He wasn't.
The Eternality of God refers to his timeless nature. God had no beginning, and will have no end.
This is one of the foundational beliefs of Christianity. If God is not eternal, then eternal life is not His to give to anyone. Also if God had a beginning He too would have to have a creator, at which point he is not the one true God. Without the eternality of God, Christianity is futile.
I mostly agree about Global warming...but I'll listen. Good point.
