what video nothing shows for me
That's horrible! Let me see if I can fix or replace. :)
This is the BEST wingsuit video I've seen, thanks for posting!! If I had the balls for this kind of thing I'd be doing it too!... just amazing to watch on a big screen in HD with a glass of wine!
I was annoyed to death because the first few minutes they only fidgeted! I wanted to yell "Come on! Jump! I wanna see teeth hair and eyeballs on those rocks!"
I wish I was young again so I could do that.
Yeah it was very mission control-ish at the start. I think the time to try is when your young enough to have the greatest chance of succeeding, or old enough that it doesn't matter. I might put it on my bucket list for my 90's birthday :)
I'm already old enough that I only consider things that involve padded chairs.
Hmm I'm sure we could somehow incorporate a padded chair into an extreme sport. Maybe you could do the space jump like in the video, but the arm chair is carried upwards by the balloon then detached at 150,000 feet. It sounds more comfortable than the way he did it and you'd hold the record for the first recliner to break the sound barrier. Red Bull the sponsor would love it!
I'll go with you. Will have to duct tape the dentures in. :)
Haha I never thought about that
The funny thing is all I've ever wanted to do since I was a kid is fly. Came pretty close through the CAP to getting my pilots license. Though that just isn't the same. I wanted the simple superhuman ability to fly on my own. Though I watch the video, now that there is a way I could actually do it.. and just the thought scares the shit out of me. Maybe when I was a dumb kid. And yup maybe when I'm very old. Thing is if I get in a simple car wreck and die tomorrow.. I never really flew. :)
Me too actually. When I was 15 I joined a gliding club and learned to fly gliders for real. It was the closet thing to flying I could think of and there was no engines so it was silent. It was also a lot safer than wing suit flying but that does look amazing. I'm like you, and I'd be way too scared to try it, although maybe I will when I'm old :)
It's got to be so surreal when you are actually doing it.
Yeah it's so smooth and relaxing especially when you're circling in a rising current of air, and you know nature is carrying you upwards, and opposite your wing is an eagle and your doing just what the eagle is doing... it's so cool! Then sometimes the rising air continues up right into the cumulus clouds above, and you see them getting closer and closer until you are literally touching the bottom of it and you feel the air temperature get colder as your altitude increases.
That's a pic my cousin took of me when I was 16 flying at about 6000 feet over Southern New South Wales. He was my first passenger that I was allowed to take.
Hell just learning to take off and land in a Cessna made me sweat every time. Never the flying part. Primarily the landing part. :)
Yeah but it's fun though! :)
Hell yeah it is. :)
